2. Match 2 – vs. Argentina (June 21, 1998): In their second match, Jamaica faced Argentina, one of the tournament favorites. Jamaica suffered a 5-0 defeat against Argentina, with the likes of Gabriel Batistuta and Ariel Ortega among the scorers for Argentina.
3. Match 3 – vs. Japan (June 26, 1998): Jamaica’s final group stage match was against Japan. In a closely contested match, Jamaica secured their first-ever World Cup victory with a 2-1 win over Japan. Deon Burton and Robbie Earle scored for Jamaica, securing a memorable win for the team.
