In the semi-finals, they put in their best performance to eliminate Michel Platini’s French team in Guadalajara (2-0).
In the final, West Germany fought hard to come back from a goal down, but eventually lost to Diego Maradona’s Argentina (2-3). As in 1982, Germany lost the World Cup final.
