This is Club Atletico Penarol new shirt to celebrate its 131 anniversary. This season’s model celebrates 131 years and is based on a peculiar model used in the 70s, and will be used in the first week of October against Progreso at the Campeón del Siglo Stadium.
The story of this jersey goes back in January 1971. The Uruguayan club had to play against Inter Bratislava for the Montevideo Cup, but due to the similarity of colors with the current Slovak team they chose to play with a green and black half jersey (the canes of the famous CURCC design).
That shirt is the basis for the commemorative model launched today, which also has yellow striped lapels and cuffs.
